I'm having the same problem, usually if I keep trying it works eventually but it is definitely not a net issue on my side, at least.
Deleting and redownloading my GW.dat file as a possible fix. *crosses fingers*
It also doesn't happen just on log in, I log into my GH just fine, but when I try to leave is when it happens. Odd.

Where do you all live & what service provider? Last time I had this same/similar problem it was all people from my area and same service provider. I'm in Oregon with Comcast.
I've been having the same problem here. Occasionally I'm able to login but not go anywhere (somehow I got in one successful gvg but errored from two others :P). The message/update box (to the right side of the login when GW is opened) doesn't appear and is the sign that you aren't going to be able to login.

I'm Oregon with Comcast as well. Odd. My internet in general has been a little twitchy.

I heard Comcast sucks.
Take it up with them and see if they're blocking some sort of line/port to Guild Wars?

I'm not having this problem, but my girlfriend is. She can go on her Warrior with no problems, but her Ranger refuses to accept getting passed the loading screen. She told me it was Error 005 and she's never had this issue until literally an hour ago.

Comcast seems very dependent on the area you live in. I have friends that hate it just down the street and their internet goes out "often" or so they say. I have typically had very few problems with it (aside from the rare times [read 1 or 2 that I can think of] that it actually did go down). However, in relation to Guild Wars, this is the second incident with comcast in this area and connecting to the game. Last time it was the same thing, although I don't remember what error number it was... logging in was dependent on the message/update box. If you waited for that to appear you could typically log in, but going from zone to zone was another story.
It should be fixed within a few days, but who knows. Last time it seemed to hit more people (or maybe they just haven't caught on to this yet as it just started happening this afternoon... well yesterday now).

I just received information regarding my girlfriend. She does use Comcast as well, so it's very likely it is Comcast.
EDIT: She's able to go on her Ranger again, so hopefully it is working again.

I've been logged on on my monk for the past 20-30 mins now, going in/out of obs. I did notice the little streaming update sign in the corner before I was able to login, so something may have been fixed on the GW end of things to fix the comcast/GW connection.

I had this as well, not a comcast issue there was a stealth streaming update which corrected it about 12-1am pst last night for me though. Basically I could log in and everything would be fine. If I zoned to or from a guild hall, fine. If I walked through any portal, fine. If I mapped to town from explorable, fine. But if I even once tried to map anywhere from a town that character would hang in the zoning process and I'd then be unable to log into the character even. I repeated this while testing with several characters. I didn't test exhaustively last night after the patch, but I was able to log in again on the glitched characters and zoning seemed fine.

I had the same problem repeatedly from about 12:30am - 4:00am EST. I too have Comcast but I live in the South. I don't know what the problem was but I hope its over.

It seems to be fixed, for the moment. I did FoW at about 2am PST last night with my guldie and no d/c's, no issues warping out of FoW. Seems good.
